What you get, and the catch
- Best for
- Small sites that want a simple traffic dashboard without a heavy script, and teams that may want to self-host later.
- Watch out
- The self-hosted Community Edition leaves out SSO and the sites API, and SSO on the cloud is Enterprise-only.
Plausible prices its hosted service by monthly pageviews. At the smallest tier, up to 10,000 pageviews a month, the pricing section listed:
- Starter: $9 a month, one site.
- Growth: $14 a month, up to 3 sites and 3 team members.
- Business: $19 a month, up to 10 sites and 10 team members.
- Enterprise: custom, with single sign-on.
The page offers yearly billing with "2 months free", but prints only the monthly figures. Prices rise with pageview volume, so set the slider to your own traffic. There is no free cloud plan. Plausible offers a 30-day trial with no card required.
The self-hosted route is the Community Edition. The repository says it is open source under the AGPLv3 "or any later version", and the README notes that it excludes SSO and the sites API. It suits teams that already run a server and want to keep visitor data on it.
What decides between Plausible and a free tool is mostly what you measure. If your team needs detailed event funnels or advertising attribution, compare Plausible's feature list with that need before you switch. The appeal is a simpler product, not a cheaper copy of a larger one.
For a 10,000-pageview site with 3 colleagues: $14 a month on Growth. Compare it in the web analytics category.
