How we make money

How we make money, and the specific things money cannot buy here.

Last updated

The short version

Some links on this page may earn us a commission if you buy. Commissions never decide which tools are listed or in what order.

How we earn

Stackfeature has no paywall, so it is funded commercially. Money can reach us in three ways, and each is disclosed where it applies:

  • Affiliate links: if you sign up for a tool through certain links, the vendor may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra and does not change your price. At launch the site carries no affiliate links.
  • Paid evaluations: a vendor pays for the time to review its product against our published method. The result is not theirs to set.
  • Sponsored placements: a labelled slot outside any comparison, with its link marked rel="sponsored".

We do not take payment to remove criticism, to suppress an unfavourable finding, or to alter a ranking. If a provider asks for any of those, we decline and the request has no effect on the coverage.

Where the disclosure appears

The FTC requires commercial relationships to be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, and close enough to the link that you see it before you click. A line buried in the footer does not meet that standard, so we do not rely on one.

On any article containing commercial links, the disclosure is rendered automatically above the first such link, not only here. It is generated from the article's own metadata, which means it cannot be forgotten by a writer or lost in an edit.

What a commercial relationship does not change

Every tool is assessed against the same published method, whether or not its vendor pays us anything. Specifically:

  • List order is set editorially, never by commission or fee.
  • Vendors who pay nothing appear alongside, and often above, vendors who do.
  • A paying vendor's seat caps, price rises and limits are published the same way as anyone else's.
  • A vendor never sees a page before publication and never approves wording.
  • We do not accept payment in exchange for a specific rating, score or verdict.

Why you should still check

Disclosure does not replace your own judgement. Any publisher with commercial income has an incentive worth being sceptical about, including this one. Follow the source links and confirm the price with the vendor before you buy.

If you would rather not send us a commission, go to the vendor directly. Nothing here depends on you using our link.

Questions

If a disclosure looks wrong, missing or unclear on any page, tell us at editorial@stackfeature.com and we will fix it. We treat a missing disclosure as a correction, not a preference.
