Editorial policy

Who stands behind the pages, how they are made, and what we do when we get one wrong.

The byline is a desk, and we say so

Pages here are published under Stackfeature Research Desk. That is a shared byline, not a person. We use it instead of inventing an author with a name, a photo and a career, which is common on comparison sites and which we will not do.

When a named editor or reviewer joins, their name, background and the pages they checked will appear on those pages.

How AI tools are used

Research and drafting for this site are done with the help of AI tools. We say so because it is true, and because it explains the rules that follow.

  • Every price and limit must link to the vendor page it was read from, with the date. The build refuses a tool profile without a dated source.
  • A claim that cannot be traced to a source is cut, not softened.
  • Nothing is described as tested unless we tested it.
  • The build rejects stock marketing phrasing, so pages say what a product costs and does in plain terms.
  • A person reviews each page before it is published.

Independence from vendors

  • Vendors do not see pages before they are published and do not approve wording.
  • Paying for an evaluation does not change a list order, a verdict or a published limitation.
  • Paid placements sit outside comparisons and are labelled where they appear.
  • A vendor stopping a payment does not change existing coverage.
  • Anyone writing for us declares any interest in a product they cover, and does not cover it if the interest is material.

What a page will and will not say

We will tell you what a tool costs at your team size, where its seat caps and minimums bite, what its free tier really allows, and whether you can run it yourself. We will say which tool fits which situation and why.

We will not tell you a product is the best overall, give it a score we did not measure, or describe features we did not find in its documentation.

Corrections

Errors are fixed in the page and logged on the corrections page with what was wrong. Routine price refreshes move the "Updated" date and are not logged as corrections, because nothing was wrong at the time.

Report an error to editorial@stackfeature.com with the page and the figure. Stackfeature would rather hear about it than not.

Outside contributions

We accept contributions from people who have bought, run or migrated off a tool, held to the same sourcing rules as our own work. Pieces written to place a link are declined. The write-for-us page has the details.
