- The free plan stops at 12 users, SAML single sign-on starts at Business, and some Pro features are listed as self-hosted only.
Plane is an open-source project and issue tracker. Its repository states that it is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0, and the company also sells a hosted cloud and paid tiers.
The pricing page has the most generous free seat limit of the project tools we track: the Free plan allows up to 12 users. Above that:
- Pro: $6 per user per month on annual billing, or $8 monthly. Unlimited seats.
- Business: $13 per user per month annually, or $15 monthly. Adds SAML single sign-on on both cloud and self-hosted deployments.
- Enterprise Grid: custom pricing, listed as "coming soon".
Read the feature table closely. Some Pro capabilities are marked as available on self-hosted deployments only ("Cloud: No, Self-hosted: Yes"), so the same plan name can mean different things depending on where it runs. The page does not say whether the Free plan can be self-hosted, so we have not assumed it.
At 10 seats: free. At 15 seats: Pro costs $90 a month on annual billing. At 25 seats with SSO: Business costs $325 a month annually. Compare it with the other tools in the project management category.
