What you get, and the catch
- Best for
- Teams that run several cross-functional projects and want timelines, portfolios and reporting in one place.
- Watch out
- SAML single sign-on is an Enterprise feature, and organisation-wide JSON backups sit behind a compliance add-on.
Asana's pricing page is clear about the free tier: the Personal plan lets 2 users work together for free, with unlimited tasks and projects and a 100 MB limit per file. It is meant for individuals and pairs, not a team.
Starter costs $10.99 per user per month on annual billing, or $13.49 billed monthly. Advanced costs $24.99 annually or $30.49 monthly. Enterprise pricing is by quote. On the paid plans, Asana says you can add unlimited members.
Two details matter for a growing business. First, SAML single sign-on (connecting Asana to your company's identity provider) is listed under Enterprise. Admins on paid plans can require Microsoft sign-in, but full SAML is not part of Starter or Advanced. Second, Asana offers CSV and PDF exports in reporting, while an organisation-wide JSON export is part of a compliance add-on at Enterprise. If you ever want to take your project history elsewhere, check what you will need before signing a contract.
At 10 seats: Starter costs about $110 a month on annual billing ($109.90). Advanced costs about $250 ($249.90). See how flat-priced tools compare at the same team size in the project management category.
