Watch out
There is no official hosted version. You run the server and supply the email-sending service, and deliverability is your responsibility.

listmonk describes itself as a "free and open source self-hosted newsletter, mailing list manager, and transactional mails" tool. Its repository states that it is licensed under the AGPL v3.

The appeal is simple: there is no price per subscriber. Every commercial tool in this category charges more as your list grows, and listmonk does not. It also offers OIDC single sign-on, granular roles and scoped API tokens, and it lets subscribers export or delete their own data.

The costs move somewhere else. There is no official hosted service. The listmonk site links to one-click hosted instances from third-party providers and says listmonk "has no affiliation" with them. If you run it yourself, you supply the server and the email-sending service, and you are responsible for deliverability: domain authentication, bounce handling, and keeping your sending reputation clean. For a small list, that work often costs more than a paid plan. For a list of tens of thousands, it can be the cheaper route by a wide margin.

For a 1,000-subscriber list: no licence fee, plus a small server and your sending costs. The hosting category compares servers that can run it. Compare it with the paid tools in the email marketing category.
